The Lexington Lady Eagle 15U Softball team had the honor and privilege of representing the City of Lexington, the Lexington School District and the Rockdale Girls’ Softball Association this past weekend in Mildred, Texas at the State Softball Tournament.

For the most part, a State Tournament means lots of practice, fielding, pitching and hitting in order to win the game. But in reality, what a trip to the State Tournament really means is a time for young girls to bond with each other, have some fun and, just maybe, for the last time as a “little league” player, go out with mom and dad and play as a kid.

The team stayed together in a hotel in Corsicana. They ate together, swam together, and played together. The games were staggered over several days.

Lexington lost, won and lost again, to go home on the third day. Despite the exit from the tournament, the girls had a good time and have built some memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.
