Court Talks Dollars & Sense
At the Lee County Commissioners’ Court Meeting on Monday, July 9, the Court heard a presentation from Tim Krause of Texas County and District Retirement Systems regarding the County’s current pension plan. According to Mr. Krause, the current plan provides for up to a 5% pre-tax contribution from each county employee and a $1.80 contribution from the County for each dollar of contribution. As explained by Mr. Krause, the actuarial calculations must account for both past and expected future responsibility to county employees, as well as the performance of the fund investments. As with the rest of the economy, Mr. Krause said, the fund has not performed as well as hoped, so the requirements for funds from the County tax revenues will need to be increased in the coming years.
In other action, the Court adopted the Order Amending Rules of Lee County, for On-Site Sewage Facilities and set the permitting rates. These rates may be obtained from the Lee County Judge’s Office. The Court also approved adding the JP Precinct 4 Office and the Wilson Boyd Building in Lexington to the panic system now being purchased. The Commissioners also approved a lease agreement with Pitney Bowes for a Digital Meter System for the District Clerk’s Office.
