Lee County 4-H Senior Horse Quiz Bowl Team brought home 4th Place from this year’s Texas 4-H Roundup held in Lubbock on the campus of Texas Tech University.

Team members Amber Schulze, Haley Schneider and Zach Rother first competed at the District 9 Roundup in May, earning them a spot at State competition. Coaches, Lucy Torn and Patti Radford, supported their team in Lubbock, along with County Extension Agents Tonya Poncik and Keeton Ehrig, and Garlyn Radford, who competed on the Intermediate bowl team at District.

At Horse Quiz competition, both teams answer questions on all aspects of the horse project. Teams can include three to four members in the same 4-H age group, but only Senior Teams advance to State.

Since its inception 65 years ago, Roundup has always held its annual event on the campus of Texas A&M University, until this year. Roundup is designed to strengthen youth participants by shaping their leadership and competition skills, team building, networking opportunities with youth and adults, career building opportunities, and citizenship development.
