Lexington’s Ranking - #2 in State
Lexington’s shrinking enrollment was entered as 268 students in high school for UIL aligning purposes. In 2010 the enrollment was 272 and in 2008 the enrollment was 300. In the past four years, Lexington’s high school student population has decreased by 32.
How does Lexington rank enrollment wise compared to their district opponents? Lexington is the fourth ranking school in high school enrollment. Lexington is the 33rd largest school in 2A-DII. Blanco is fifth, Universal City Randolph is ninth, and Rogers is 13th as the schools larger than Lexington. The schools smaller than Lexington and their rank are Jarrell 43rd, Schulenburg 88th, and Johnson City 98th.
Ironically, state champion Refugio dropped from 249 in 2010 to 204 for the 2012 reclassification. The area was dying until the new rush of the oil industry. Rumors say the Refugio area is booming once again and their numbers will rise in the next realignment phase.
