Treila M. Galbreath


Services for Treila M. Galbreath, 90 of Rockdale, will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 28, 2012 in the First Baptist Church in Thorndale. Burial will follow in the Taylor City Cemetery. Rev. Jeremy Shepherd will officiate.

Visitation will be 5PM to 8PM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the funeral home.

Serving as her pallbearers will be Tommy Welch, Jr., Steve Simpson, Tom Simpson, Dylan Schwarz, Cooper Welch, and Matt Peel. Honorary pallbearer is Barrett Simpson.

Treila M. Galbreath was born December 17, 1921 in Pratt, Kansas to Albert Franklin and Maude B. (Franklin) Paris. She lived the past 20 years in Rockdale and was previously a longtime resident of Alvin, Texas.

On January 4, 1992, she and Neal Galbreath were married in the First Baptist Church in Thorndale.

Treila was very proud of being a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. When she was younger, Treila worked as a checker for Smith Grocery in Alvin, as well as a saleslady in the Women’s Department of Dillards Department Store. She was an avid oil painter of various subjects and was a member of First Baptist Church in Thorndale.

Treila passed away Monday morning, June 25th, in the Cameron Nursing Center in Cameron. She was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years, Neal, on June 3, 2005, her parents and five of her siblings, Lewis Eugene Paris, Lela Turner, Zella Cox, Mary Travis and Morene Christ.

Surviving Treila is the family she cherished; her son, Tommy Welch and wife Marilyn of Thorndale, daughter, Barbara Scroggins and husband Bobby of Thorndale, six grandchildren, Wynona Schwarz of Thorndale, Rhonda Brown of Pasadena, Tommy Welch, Jr. of Thorndale, Tom Simpson and wife Kathy of Robinson, Steve Simpson of Thorndale and Craig Simpson and wife Cara of New Richmond, Ohio; eleven great grandchildren, Megan and Dylan Schwarz, Kassie Barron, Mallory Keeling, Cooper Welch, Dacey, Jared, Barrett, Levi, Shelbi and Colbi Simpson; one great great granddaughter, Emma Grace Niemtschk, and Treila’s sister, Lorene Webb of Houston.
