Just a Thought.......
Cleverly, she has made it just steps away from her door. Recently, she invited my wife and me to visit this arbor of color and cool.
Awe, was the only appropriate response.
There, in her backyard, were plants of multiple species and coordinating colors. Placed throughout were knick-knacks and momentos, each with a story of their own, and an image that enhanced the total scene.
We wandered, delighted, under the tutelage of her hand and voice. Our eyes were opened to see what we had not noticed before and to appreciate anew things we thought we had known. All the while we shared the joy of someone who has done something soul-worthy.
My friend is an artist and I have seen her work with paint and clay, but had not before seen her pastel partnership with God. Being humble, she would be the first to give him credit. But, being humorous, she might also add, “You should have seen this place when God had it by himself!”
What truly moves me is the larger lesson from the day. She made this place long before the difficult times she has recently encountered. It is ready now to comfort and encourage her. I can’t help believing that once upon a time her mother said to her, “Be ready, you never know.”
She heeded that advice and because she did so, she is blessed, and so were we.
