Sports Thoughts……

by Mike Organ

The Big XII is doing pretty good in the ball playoffs. Oklahoma is playing for the national championship in softball. Baylor, Oklahoma, and incoming member TCU are in the regional finals in baseball.

The UT golf team won the NCAA championship in California. It was 40 years between championships.

The 12-year old Lee County Little League All-Star team is heavily laden with Lexington players. This bodes well for the future of the high school team in about four years.

It was a bad week for the Rangers and Astros. Texas lost four in a row, and the Astros lost eight before winning. Both won Sunday to end their losing steaks.

The Spurs and Thunder are playing a great seven game series in trying to get to the NBA finals. According to reports, TV ratings are higher than when the Lakers and Bulls play. The fans in SA and OKC are the most rabid in the league.

Just a thought, not sports. Several years ago students that passed the state mandated test would get a special day or trip. The state said schools could not do that because it pointed out all the students that failed. What did the state do? They gave the students that passed the state test five days off and those that did not pass had to attend an additional five days of school. This is five times worse than what schools were doing!!!!!!
