Lexington Garden Club News
On May 10, the Garden Clubbers enjoyed another Annual Yard Tour. Beverly McMurrey started the beautiful day at her home with a delicious breakfast served by her co-hostesses Cheryl King, Lina Murray, and Betty Sandifer.
Mary Beth Gibson coordinated the tour. The first yard visited was at Ronnie and Dana Brewer’s home. The lawn throughout the yard was spectacular and most unusual, being that it is the kind of grass used on golf courses, called Celebration Bermuda. Most of his flower beds were beautifully displayed with unusual flowers, trees, and plants. His vegetable garden was mouth-watering; his hard work was appreciated by all.
Pretty yards visited on the way back to Lexington were Rodney and Becky Exner and Clara Grace Sherrill, both yards showing beautiful blooming plants.
Leonard and Alice Kastner were 4th on the tour. Their front and back yards were a sight to behold – pot plants everywhere.
Oscar and Maryann Hillegeist’s yard was 5th on the tour. Their yard was beautifully groomed and would be a candidate for a Southern Living yard of the month award.
A pot-luck lunch was enjoyed at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Co-hostesses were Pat Botard, Orene Frankeny and Cherry Stover.
The next meeting will be June 14 at 2 p.m. at the home of Pam Iselt.
The program will be on “Creating Hypertufa and Stepping Stone” by Paulette Schulze.
