U13 Girls Soccer Team Headed to State
The U13 girls soccer team LC United competed in the Western District Tournament May 5-6 in San Marcos and finished as Western District Champions. On Saturday the girls played three games defeating all three teams, the Krazy Kleats from Uvalde 3-0 with Megan Rangel scoring 2 and Jasmine Luna 1, next the team defeated Revolution from Corpus Christi 2-1 with Courtney Strain and Jasmine Luna each scoring 1.The final game on Saturday was against the Lady Rangers from San Antonio in which LC United defeated them 1-0. On Sunday, LC United defeated Crossfire from Austin 3-0. Scoring goals were Courtney Strain, Megan Rangel, and Janay Wilson. LC United defeated Lonestar 99G Blue from San Antonio in the final game 1-0 with Natasha Thiele scoring the only goal. The girls finished first place in the Western District Tournament. The defense played strong, allowing only 1 goal. Goalkeeper Hannah Kipp played excellent, blocking several shots. The entire team played well. LC United will now advance to the South Texas State Cup Tournament May 12-13 in San Marcos at 5 Mile Dam Park.
