Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

In softball, Academy and Cameron won first round series, but were eliminated in the Area round. Rogers is still in the state championship tourney, with a solid win over Edna.

In baseball, Cameron and Lexington are out of the playoffs. Jarrell starts this week against Vanderbilt Industrial.

I hope everyone you thought deserved a special recognition got it at the annual Lexington Athletic Association banquet. Probably not, but most of us have a choice for each award.

Lexington will host the 7-on-7 Qualifying Tourney for the second year in a row. It can be quite a show. It is a fix for football junkies.

Texas and A&M have finished their athletic competition unless they meet in a post season tourney. It seems quite a shame that two schools like these will no longer play each other — all because of a TV contract and an inferiority complex.
