Ben Berg with the Blue Volunteer Fire Department shoots water at the end of a mobile home that was damaged by fire last week. A singlewide mobile home was significantly damaged, primarily from smoke, during a fire last Tuesday afternoon. Debra Makey returned to her home in Blue, located off CR F, to find smoke billowing out of one end of the trailer.

“I went up to the front door and unlocked it, but it felt so hot to the touch, I just backed off and called 911,” Makey said.

Fire fighters from Blue and Lexington Volunteer Fire Departments arrived on the scene and immediately began dousing the west side of the mobile home at a window air conditioning unit where smoke was pouring out. There were no flames seen, but the heat was intense enough to cause a lot of damage to the home and its contents.

Makey had been in Austin staying with her daughter for several days before returning to find her home almost destroyed.
