Giddings Library News Corner

by Judy Belyeu

When looking for books at the Giddings Public Library don’t forget to check the shipments of books sent out every several months from the Central Texas Library System. They contain an excellent and varied selection of western and fiction books.

Some of our more recent fiction books such as Back Of Beyond by C.J. Box, is about police officer Cody Hoyt, who is struggling through early sobriety when his AA sponsor is murdered. He follows clues that point to a Yellowstone National Park guide who is leading Hoyt’s son and other tourists into the wilderness. Silver Girl by Elin Hilderbrand has Meredith and her best friend facing homelessness and the loss of social standing after Meredith’s husband cheats rich investors out of billions of dollars.

Flash And Bones by Kath Reichs finds anthropologist, Dr. Temperance Brennan, investigating a possible FBI cover-up with ties to the disappearance of a NASCAR crew member’s sister, a right-wing extremist group, and a secret substance. AQuiet Death by Marcia Talley is another mystery about Hannah Ives. After being involved in a train accident, Hannah finds herself in possession of her injured seatmate’s bag, and her efforts to return it soon set in motion a chain of events that put her life in grave danger.

The Litigators, in hardback and CD, by John Grisham is given in memory of Hershel Doyle and in honor of Lillian Bieberstein Doyle on her 90th birthday (November 20, 2011) by Nancy and LeRoy Bieberstein. Law firm partners Oscar Finley and Wally Fig see a chance for huge financial gain when they learn of a pending class action lawsuit against the makers of Krayoxx, a popular cholesterol-reducing drug suspected of causing heart attacks.
