Tracksters Qualify for Regionals
Lexington track competitors qualified for Regional competition Monday and Wednesday at the District 27-AA meet. Boys and girls qualified relay teams, and the boys had several individuals qualify. For the girls, only Johna Alford qualified in the high jump.
Lexington Eagles scored 55 points in the field events. The shot put was the big event, as Antonio Washington won the event with a throw of 46’10 ½”. Will Holcomb was third with a 45’1-1/2” toss. Todd Glass placed third in the discus. Jason Washington qualified with a 20’4” second place long jump. Washington also qualified in the triple jump and high jump. His triple jump was 40’10” and the high jump was 5’10”. Others scoring points in the field events for the Eagles were: Logan Meuth, fourth in the triple jump; Eriq Mitchell, fifth in the high jump; and Corey Strain, sixth in the pole vault.
In the individual running event, Eriq Mitchell placed second in the high hurdles with a 16.17 to qualify. A.J. Flot ran a 22.64 to capture the silver medal in the 200 meters to qualify.
Lexington relay teams had a good day in qualifying. The Eagle 4x100 relay team ran a 44.25 to place third. Team members are: A.J. Flot, Josh Murray, Donnie Havard, and Jason Washington.
The Lady Eagle 4x100 qualified also with a 52.39 clocking and a third place finish. Team members are: Tameka Hall, Meghann Wrinkle, Johna Alford, and Maricela Gaytan. The Lady Eagle 4x200 team made up of the same girls also qualified for the Regional Meet.
The Regional Track Meet will be held April 27 and 28 at D.W. Rutledge Stadium at Judson High School.
