On Friday the 13th, Districts 2 and 3 met in La Grange at La Grange High School for our annual physical fitness test. The test, consisting of sit ups, push ups, 300 meter run and 1 1/2 mile run are conducted utilizing a standard scoring/timing method. We were joined by the Region IX Major and Lieutenant, as well as both district Captains; Region IX passed with 100% efficiency.

On Saturday the 14th, I was assigned to Bastrop County to work Lake Bastrop and the Colorado River. I teamed up with the LCRA Park Ranger due to high winds on the lake. After checking all vessels on the lake, we proceeded to the river to answer a call of an abandoned boat around Tahitian Village. On the river, we checked numerous people camping on the sand banks, fishermen limiting out on Guadalupe bass. We pulled old trotlines, initiated water safety inspections and performed one water rescue.

On Sunday the 15th, I traveled back to Lake Bastrop, only to find weather had pushed a lot of boaters and campers off the lake. While in the area, I toured Bastrop State Park and other areas affected by the wildfire.
