Lexington Chamber Of Commerce Receives Grant From The Texas Commission On The Arts

With help from the Texas Commission on the Arts and local Lexington sponsor My Friend’s House Day School, The Lexington Chamber of Commerce will feature FREE children’s entertainment as Lexington celebrates its 47th Annual Homecoming on Thursday, May 3 – Sunday, May 6, 2012.

The Chamber was recently awarded a small grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts to help advance the creative economy of Lexington by investing in arts activities at the 47th Annual Lexington Homecoming Festival. The Chamber also received additional sponsorship from My Friend’s House Day School in Lexington. The Celebration will feature 2 FREE children’s performances by Margaret Clauder at Margaret Clauder Presents. Margaret knows kids and she has performed for thousands of children in hundreds of schools and all over Texas, delighting audiences with her interactive storytelling, her puppets, ventriloquism, her magic and humor. She knows that getting children to remember a message is much easier if you can entertain them as they are learning. “This will be the first year the Chamber has been afforded the opportunity to bring entertainment like this to the children of Lexington and surrounding communities. We are very excited to participate in programs like this and hope to see children of all ages attend the performances.” said Samantha Retzlaff, 2012 Homecoming Chair. “Homecoming is such a wonderful opportunity for Lexington families to come together as a community and celebrate. My Friend’s House Day School is proud to sponsor the children’s entertainment for this year’s Homecoming and we are super excited about all the events planned!” said Michelle Lockhart, Owner of My Friend’s House Day School. For more information on Margaret Clauder and all of this year’s Homecoming events, visit the chamber website at www.lexingtontexas.com.
