The Lexington Eagles bounced back from Wednesday’s loss to Academy with a 4-0 shut out of Lago Vista Thursday evening. Lane Turner pitched a masterful three-hit for the Eagles. Kogan Garrett supplied the power with a two-run home run in the third inning as the Eagles moved back into sole possession of third place in district play.

Lexington scored first in the opening inning. Donnie Havard singled to start the Eagle offense. Logan Meuth was hit by a pitch, putting runners at first and second. Garrett bounced into a double play, as Havard moved to third. A wild pitch gave Lexington all the scoring it would eventually need.

Lexington scored again in the second inning. Chase Hibbeler doubled off the right field fence. He moved to third on a wild pitch. Another wild pitch allowed Chase to the Eagles’ second run.

In the third inning, Logan Meuth singled and Garrett followed with a long blast over the right field fence as the ball headed to CEFCO for a drink. The Eagles led 4-0.

Only one Lago Vista player even reached third base. With the runner at third, Lago Vista tried a delayed steal. Eagle catcher Derek Dane had none of the trickery as he fired to Havard at second base to get the felon, while holding the runner at third. The batter then flew out to Colin Wiggins in centerfield to end the inning.
