Lady Eagles Pound Thorndale

by Mike Organ

Lexington scored five runs in the top of the first inning on two hits, two walks, and three Thorndale errors. Lexington added three in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth.

Mackenzie Brown walked to start the Lady Eagle offense. Courtney Robertson reached on an error and Kasey Smith walked. Jorden Kelley, the courtesy runner for Robertson, scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Madison Bexley then delivered Lexington’s biggest hit of the day, a triple to the outfield fence to score Smith. Kassie Prew singled Bexley home, Kaylie Sherman reached on an error by the second baseman, as Prew made it all the way home on the error.

Robertson walked with two out to start the second. Smith walked and Bexley delivered both with a single. Prew then sent Bexley home with a double.

In the third, Racheal Beard reached to open the inning. Bailey Reynolds walked, Mackenzie Brown moved the runners up a base, and a passed ball allowed Beard to score. Meghann Wrinkle walked and stole second. Robertson lofted a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Reynolds.

Bexley led off the fourth with her third hit, but was caught stealing. Prew doubled and Chelsea Nadeau reached on an error as Prew scored. Reynolds singled and Brown delivered both with a double. Lexington led 13-1. When neither team scored in the fifth, the game was ended by rule.

Courtney Robertson pitched the first three innings and Meghann Wrinkle pitched the last two, as Coach Holcomb is keeping both pitchers sharp for the important stretch of games coming up for the Lady Eagles.
