Lady Eagles Blast Florence

by Mike Organ

Meghann Wrinkle led off the game with an inside-the-park home run for Lexington. Things only got worse for Florence as the game progressed. Lexington would score four more times in the first, and nine times in the second. The game ended with one out in the third, when Madison Bexley crossed home plate with the 15th Lady Eagle score.

Wrinkle had a big night getting three hits, four RBI’s, and tossing two perfect innings. Every batting position in the Lexington lineup scored in the nine-run second inning before an out was made.

The opening home run was the only extra base hit Lexington had for the game. The other 11 hits were all singles.

Wrinkle pitched the first two innings of perfect softball and Bailey Reynolds finished up the perfect game with a 1-2-3 third inning.

Prior to the game, Lexington honored their senior players for their contribution to the team. Megan Scantlin, Jorden Kelley, and Kaylie Clare-Sherman were escorted to the field by their parents and there were large circles on the field with their jersey numbers inside.
