Giddings Library News

by Judy Belyeu

The Giddings Public Library has added several biographies to our selection. Happy Chaos by Soleil Moon Frye is about Soleil when she was a child actress and best known for her performances as television character Punky Brewster. She traces her journey from child star to entrepreneur and mother of two, describing how her unconventional upbringing in Los Angeles enabled her approaches to parenting. Growing Up Colt by Colt McCoy, Brad McCoy and Mike Yorkey discusses the Heisman winner and Cleveland Browns quarterback and his father. Colt’s father was a former high school coach, who with his son discusses his Christian faith and other major influences on his life.

We have other non- fiction books that would be of interest to our patrons. A History Of The World Since 9/11 by Dominic Streatfeild is a critical assessment of the war on terror that offers insight into such topics as the decision to invade Iraq, the number of civilian casualties and the United States’ Associations with questionable allies. 7 Steps To Financial Freedom In Retirement by Hank Pacrott helps you calculate how much money you will need to retire in comfort, and then reviews the investment opportunities that will help you reach that goal. Several other nonfiction books are: Greenback Planet by H. W. Brands and Christmas Book 13 by Gooseberry Patch.

Other good fiction books that are available to check out are: The Measure Of Magic by Terry Brook; The Killer Is Dying by James Sallis and The Christmas Wedding by James Patterson.
