Rogers 6 Lady Eagles 0

by Mike Organ

Rogers handed Lexington its third straight defeat with a 6-0 whipping Saturday morning. The loss moves Lexington to fourth place in District play and the possibility of ending their 16-year run in the post season.

Rogers lead off hitter singled, stole second, stole third and scored on a grounder to first base. That would be all the scoring needed, but Rogers added two more runs in the third inning on a costly error and an RBI single.

The Bell County crew added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 6-0 lead.

Lexington got one runner as far as third base in the game. That came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Meghann Wrinkle laced a triple into the gap in right centerfield with no outs. Even then the Lady Eagles could not manage to get her home.
