Lady Bees Sting Lexington

by Mike Organ

Lexington lost its first district game of the year Monday evening as the Academy Lady Bees stung the locals 10-3. Lexington played almost perfect ball the first three innings, but the wheels fell off in the top of the fourth stanza, as Academy scored seven runs on just three hits and multiple errors, physical and mental, by Lexington.

Lexington answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Bailey Reynolds reached on an error, Meghann Wrinkle walked, and Courtney Robertson blasted a homerun over the left centerfield fence. After that one barrage, Lexington never got another runner past second base in four more at-bats.

Courtney Robertson was the losing pitcher, giving up five hits, 10 runs (one earned), and striking out two.
