Child Abuse Prevention Month Set
Lee County Commissioners met on Monday, March 26, 2012, and approved a resolution presented by a group of Giddings ISD students. The Resolution proclaimed April 2012 as Child Abuse Prevention Month. The students, who are members of DECA, are supporting this program to combat child abuse in Lee County as their Project of the Year. In their presentation and Resolution, they pointed out that there were 104 cases of reported child abuse in Lee County last year and 300,000 nationwide.
The Court also adopted a Resolution designating the week of April 8-14, 2012 as National Telecommunicator Week, in order to recognize the work done by the operators manning the 911 network for the County.
In other action, the Court designated Saturday, April 14, as the regular County Cleanup Day for the collection of household waste items such as carpet and things of that kind. It is not for the collection of excess paint or other chemicals. The Court also agreed to allow the Democratic Party to use the First Floor Courtroom as the location for the party’s County Convention on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
