Eagles Sink Vikings 8-3

by Mike Organ

Lexington won their first district game Tuesday night in Lago Vista as they sank the Vikings 8-3 behind the pitching of Lane Turner and Kogan Garrett and the hitting of Garrett and Logan Meuth.

Garrett led off the game by blasting the third Lago Vista pitch out of the friendly confines of Viking field. Donnie Havard followed with a single, Logan Meuth a double, Turner was hit by a pitch, Derek Dane singled, W.E. Meuth reached on a fielder’s choice, and Colin Wiggins singled, as the Eagles posted four runs before Lago Vista even got a chance to swing a bat at Eagle pitching.

Lexington added another run in the second inning as Garrett singled with one out. Logan Meuth socked his second double of the game with Garrett scoring.

Lago got two runs back in the home half of the third on back to back home runs. The score stood 5-2 after three complete innings.

Each team added a run in the fourth inning. Lexington’s came as Jason Washington walked, moved to second on Logan Meuth’s single, and scored as the Lago second baseman erred in fielding Turner’s grounder.
