Sheriff’s Report

March 5, 2012

A concerned citizen reported seeing a lot of black smoke from somewhere west of CR 320. Deputy York located the source and advised that it was a controlled burn.

Deputy York was dispatched to a residence on CR 208. A caller reported that someone had shot the wood that held up his mailbox.

March 6, 2012

A complainant reported that there was a disturbance in the parking lot at the Westwood Villa Apartments. Deputy Ray and Deputy Crockett stood by in the parking lot for approx 15 minutes and all was quiet.

Deputy Carvin was dispatched to Hwy 21 near the Middle Yegua Creek to put up cows that were out.

A school bus driver called and reported cows out on CR 133 approx 2 miles from Hwy 290. Chief Deputy Lapham removed the cattle from the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding some suspicious circumstances at a residence on CR 449 in Lincoln. Deputy Ray was dispatched and a report was taken and investigation continues at this time.

March 7, 2012

A motorist requested assistance on FM 696 West in Lexington. He had a flat tire and his spare was also flat. Deputy Ray and Deputy Crockett assisted and gave him a courtesy ride to fix his tire.

Several callers reported that a van ran off the road and rolled over. The driver was out of the vehicle and appeared to be okay. Troopers were in Austin so Deputy Carvin took the call and worked the accident.

A caller reported a man riding around in the middle of the road on CR 326 on a riding lawn mower. Deputy Ray and Deputy Liles searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to FM 141 in Dime Box to investigate a theft at the South Oak Church of Christ. A report was taken.

March 8, 2012

Deputy Liles was dispatched to Texas Hot Oilers after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle. A small red truck was parked at the business. The vehicle was unattended and had a Missouri tag.

The Sheriff’s Office received a burglar alarm at a business in Lincoln. Deputy Crockett and Deputy Skinner checked it out and found the property secure.

A motorist reported several sheep out on Hwy 21 near CR 103. Deputy Allen located them and advised they ran into the pasture at 4394 Hwy 21.

Deputy Allen reported that he received a call regarding a suspicious person on CR 225. The area was checked but no one was located.

A subject requested that a deputy assist him with a civil stand by at his in-laws’ house on CR F. He wanted to get his children. Deputy Rudolph assisted, but advised the children were not at the residence. The in- laws requested that a criminal trespass warning be issued, as they did not want him on their property.

Giddings Police requested assistanceata3caraccidentin front of Wal-Mart. Deputy Liles and Deputy Skinner assisted with traffic control until the roadway was cleared.

March 9, 2012

A caller reported that a female was on their property on Hwy 77 South and she was causing problems. Deputy Carvin issued the woman a criminal trespass warning and advised her not to return.

Deputy York and Deputy Carvin assisted Trooper Weiser at the scene of a rollover accident on FM 141.

Lifeline requested a welfare check on a lady that lives on CR 127. She activated her alarm and they had not been able to make contact with her. Deputy York located her and advised that she had accidentally hit the button while she was working in her barn.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a subject who believed his wife may try to harm herself. He received a text message from her and he wanted someone to make sure his kids were ok. Deputy Crockett and Deputy Ayres checked the residence and everyone was asleep and ok.

March 10, 2012

A motorist reported that a vehicle was parked on PR 7709 and no one was around. Deputy Ayres checked and advised that the vehicle had a flat tire.

Deputy York assisted with a welfare check report for a citizen. She had called Harris County and requested they check on her son and his children. They told her she would have to file a report with Lee County and then they would send someone to check on them. Harris County called her back and told her they were fine.

Deputy Crockett and Deputy Ayres spoke to a complainant on PR 1339 regarding some suspicious activity in the area. Deputies will be patrolling the area.

March 11, 2012

A caller reported that she saw open flames at a new oil field pad on FM 141 approx 1 mile from Hwy 21. Deputy York checked on the fire and advised that they were burning excess gas from the well.

Deputy York checked on two stray dogs on FM 2239. The dogs appeared to be healthy and would probably go back home. He will check back later.

Several motorists reported red cows out on Hwy 77 North. The cows were put up at 11974 N Hwy 77.

Deputy York was dispatched to Hwy 77 North @ CR 412 to put up the same cows that got out earlier.

A complainant wanted it documented that her mailbox was damaged on PR 1146.
