Dorothea “Dorothy” Eleanor Blasig
Dorthea “Dorothy” Eleanor Synatschk Blasig was born on October 24, 1929 in Warda, Texas to Carl & Clara ( Mitschke) Synatschk. She was baptized on October 27, 1929 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda, Texas by Rev. Gottfried Buchschacher and confirmed on October 10, 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville, Texas by Rev. J.W. Jackson. Her confirmation verse was Revelations 2:10 “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life.” She was united in marriage to Andrew Kieschnick on October 24, 1946 at Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville by Rev. J.W. Jackson. Their marriage was blessed with six children, Ann, Peggy, Sandra, John, Tommie & Billie. After Andrew’s death on April 19, 1966, Dorothy married Edward Moerbe on June 8, 1968 at Grace Lutheran Church in Smithville with Rev. Ewald Recks officiating. She owned and managed Buddy’s Place in Manheim for several years. She was proud to have obtained her Class A Commercial Drivers License and she and Edward drove a delivery truck for K & M Produce. Dorothy was able to combine her loves of children and cooking by serving as the cook for several daycares and schools in the area including Candyland Daycare, Mary’s Little Lambs, Lil Buffs and St. John Lutheran Daycare and School in Lincoln. After Edward preceded her in death on August 6, 1991, she married Milton Blasig on September 18, 1999 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating. Dorothy was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim and enjoyed embroidering and quilting. It brought her even greater joy to be able to give these creations to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dorothy passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings in the presence of family and friends, having reached the age of 82 years, 4 months and 10 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Clara Synatschk; her husbands, Andrew Kieschnick, Edward Moerbe and Milton Blasig; son-in-law, William “Bill” Siegeler; brother, Walter Synatschk; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tillie & Werner Albrecht and Irene & Galton Davis and a brother-in-law, Curtis Rhode.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Ann Romans-Kissmann & Claud Kissmann of Austin and their son, Craig Romans and his children, Zachary & Tarq Romans all of Minneapolis, MN; her daughter, Peggy Siegeler & Kim Moerbe of Giddings and her daughter, Dixie & Gonzalo Vivas and their children Logan & Lawson all of Leander; her daughter, Sandra Dietz of Austin; her son, John & Linda Kieschnick of Giddings and their children, Chris & Stephanie Kieschnick & their son, Dilyn of Giddings, Lorin & Jennifer Kieschnick & their children, Kaylynn & Claire of College Station, Walt & Megan Kieschnick of Katy and Wes Kieschnick of Giddings; her son, Tommie & Carol Kieschnick of Lincoln and their children, Kayla & Zane Brandenberger & their son, Braelyn of Brady, Kyle Kieschnick of Lincoln and Kent Kieschnick of College Station; her son, Billie & Eva Jo Kieschnick of Giddings and their children, Jill & Randy Jackson & their daughter, Layla of Katy and Adam Kieschnick of Houston; four stepsons and their families, Garry Blasig, Donnie & Valla Blasig, Ronnie & Sandra Blasig and Dennis & Sharon Blasig all of Giddings; three sisters, Annie Mae Rhode of Smithville, Ruth & Marvin Mertink of Hillsboro and Thelma & James Oberndorfer of Houston; brother, Fred & Esther Synatschk of College Station, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim, Texas with Rev. Herb Keistman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Dorothy’s grandchildren, Craig Romans, Dixie Vivas, Chris Kieschnick, Lorin Kieschnick, Walt Kieschnick, Wes Kieschnick, Kayla Brandenberger, Kyle Kieschnick, Kent Kieschnick, Jill Jackson and Adam Kieschnick.
