Lady Eagles Flatten Florence 23-0

Lexington scored 10 runs in each of the first two innings, and then relaxed with three in the final at bat in a run away victory over Florence.

In the first inning, Mackenzie Brown led off with a single. Rachael Beard walked in front of Meghann Wrinkle’s double. Kasey Smith walked, Madison Bexley singled, Kassie Prew walked to force home a run. The next batter, Mariah Thornton walked to force in a run. Brown reached on an error, Beard walked to force in a run, Wrinkle singled home a run, and Courtney Robertson singled home a run. There were 10 runs in all for the Lady Eagles.

In the second inning, Bexley doubled to lead off. Thornton reached on an error, as did Kaylie Sherman. Brown walked, Beard singled home a run, Wrinkle reached on an error, and Robertson doubled home two runs. Smith was hit by a pitch, Bexley reached on a fielder’s choice, Prew singled home a run, and Thornton reached on a fielder’s choice. Sherman drove home three runs with a bases-clearing double. The final result: 10 more runs and a 20-0 lead.

In the third, the Lady Eagles doubled down. Beard singled, Wrinkle doubled, Robertson doubled, and Bexley doubled as the massacre ended.

Wrinkle pitched the entire game for Lexington, allowing only one hit in the three-inning affair.
