A three car accident on Wednesday, March 8, in front of Wal-Mart, sent two people to St. Marks Hospital for treatment. Giddings Police Officer Lacey Carvin was dispatched to the 2200 block of E. Austin Street at 10:08 pm.

Christopher Michael Patrick, 22 from Cypress, Texas, was driving a 1996 Ford Mustang east bound in the inside lane of E. Austin Street when a minor male driver, 16 of Giddings, entered the roadway from East Hempstead Street in a 2002 F150 Ford pickup truck, attempting to turn west bound. He failed to yield the right of way to Patrick, when he struck his vehicle in the left passenger area, causing Patrick’s vehicle to become disabled.

Meanwhile, John Frank Joiner, 63 from Giddings, was traveling in the inside east bound lane of E. Austin Street in his1995 Nissan Altima, approaching the crash immediately after the initial impact. He struck Patrick’s vehicle. Fortunately, Patrick had already exited his vehicle and was unharmed.

B & M Ambulance transported the driver and one passenger from the minor’s vehicle to St. Mark’s Medical Center in LaGrange for undetermined injuries. Patrick refused treatment at the scene. According to the police report, the minor had two passengers, one 14 years of age and one 8 years of age, while Patrick and Joiner were traveling alone. No one else was injured.

The minor was cited for no driver’s license and failing to yield the right of way.
