Deadline for Upcoming City and School Elections Fast Approaching

The deadline to sign up for the Lexington City Council and Mayor Election and the Lexington Independent School District Board of Trustees Election is fast approaching. Persons interested in having their names included on this year’s ballots will need to complete a packet by the close of the business day on Monday, March 5.

The Mayor’s position, along with two positions on the City Council are up for election. Mayor Robert Willrich, Sr. has already signed up to run again, and current Mayor Pro Tem, Tim Brown, has also signed up to run for Mayor. Incumbent Lori Barnikow has signed up to keep her seat on the Council and Charlotte Hooper has also signed up. Incumbent William Langehennig has not yet submitted a packet indicating his desire to run again.

No one has signed up to run in the LISD Board of Trustees election. Seats currently occupied by Phillip Brown and Joe Green are up for election.

Packets can be picked up 8 to 5, Monday through Friday at City Hall and from 8 to 4, Monday through Friday, at the LISD Administration Building.

Both elections will be held on May 12.
