Happy Hearts Donate 19 Quilts
The Happy Hearts Quilting Guild of Giddings, Texas has completed, as their community service project, 19 quilts. These were delivered last week to the schools of Lee County, including Giddings, Lexington and Dime Box, to be used in the nurses’ offices for the children of the county. The nurses agreed to provide care for the quilts and the members of the Guild are pleased to have a community service project that benefits children so close to home. Our members hope that these quilts are used and enjoyed for several years and provide comfort to the children who enter the schools’ offices.
The Lexington quilts were delivered to Lexington Elementary School Principal, Lynette Brown, and LISD Nurse, Hope Siegmund. The Dime Box School quilts were accepted by Nurse Dana Kasmiersky, and the Giddings ISD quilts were presented to Chad Rood, GHS Principal. The nurses of GISD, Leslie Clayton at GHS and GMS, Sandra Allen at GIS, and Heather Perry at GES, will determine which quilts go to each campus.
Community service is a key part of the Happy Hearts Quilting Guild, and donating their quilts to warm, grateful people, such as those mentioned here, makes the task of making them a joy to all the members. It is the goal of Happy Hearts to serve the Lee County area in many ways, including reaching the youngest members of the community.
