Delta Kappa Gamma Society Has February Meeting
The Gamma Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society met at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phillipsburg, Texas with 61 members present.
Members from Lee County attending were Tammy Alford, Lynette Brown, Trudy Holland, Connie Moss, and Julie Parker.
The Ceremonies Committee initiated Carobeth Bockhorn as a new member. Members formed a circle and sang “The Delta Kappa Gamma Song”. Sharon Spiess led the group in singing Valentine Songs.
President Mary Keienburg presided over the business meeting. Minutes from the last meeting were approved as printed. Linda Pinkerton read the Treasurer’s report and it was approved. Shelley Nies read a thank you card from Kim Mathis from Focusing Families. Mary Keienburg introduced Joan Hester, Area Coordinator and she gave information on the International and State Conventions, as well as the Area Workshop scheduled for August 4, 2012. Heather Smith reported on the work of the Archives Committee and Constitutional changes. She led the first reading of the revised Chapter Rules. A second reading will be held at the March 3, 2012 meeting. Jackie Romine brought picture updates for the Pictorial Directory and the directories that had been ordered.
Sue Wieprecht, Professional Affairs Committee, presented the Maggie B. Selman Scholarship to Erin Lischka of Bellville and the Dorothy Louise Lehmann Scholarship to Amber Becerra of Bellville. Marie Landry, Achievement Committee, reminded members to make nominations for the Chapter Achievement Award. Nomination forms were in the Focus.
Trudy Holland reported the following have been nominated as new officers: Mary Keienburg, President; Trudy Holland, First Vice President; Lou Pruitt, Second Vice President; Carolyn Golan, Recording Secretary; and Cheryl Prichett, Corresponding Secretary. Mary Keienburg reminded everyone to turn in their contributions for Schools for Africa. Myra Demel distributed “Teacher Words of Wisdom”, to new teachers.
The next meeting will be March 3, 2012 at 9: 30 a. m. in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg with Lee County members serving as hostesses. Mary Alice Cure led the group in prayer followed by a noon meal.
