The Lexington JV Boys hosted the Cameron YOE in the Old Gym on Friday night, February 3, 2012. Cameron was able to win the tip off, but couldn’t convert. The ball went back and forth until Lexington’s #12 Corey Strain was able to drop one in for the first 2 points of the night. #32 Cameron Janda followed with a free throw, then Strain hit again. #22 Nate Holcomb was able to add a free throw, and Lexington ended the first period ahead of Cameron by a score of 6-4.

Cameron started the scoring in the second, but Lexington’s Janda added 2 quickly. A good pass to #24 Marcus Cassassa, who put in 2 more, and the half ended with Lexington still in the lead, 10-7.

With the start of the third period, the Yoemen broke loose. Cameron was able to hit two 3 pointers and tack on 7 more. Lexington’s Janda added 2 baskets, and Holcomb bombed a 3 pointer, with 38 seconds left in the third. At the end of the third period, Cameron had pulled out in front with a score of 20-17.

With the start of the fourth period, Lexington reversed the trend and went on a scoring streak. Lexington went to in-bound the ball under the goal, when the Lexington players formed a wall at the free throw line, facing the goal. #22 Nate Holcomb took a step back just as Strain lobbed the ball over everyone’s heads to a waiting Holcomb. Holcomb took aim and hit his second 3 pointer for the night. The next 2 baskets were both scored when #12 Strain stole the ball and went down for layups,givingLexingtona4point lead. #32 Cameron Janda was able to add 2 more baskets for Lexington.

The Yoemen were held to 2 points in the fourth, which allowed the Lexington JV Boys to walk away with a win, with a score of 28-22.

Scoring for Lexington were: 2 by #24 Marcus Cassassa; 7 by #22 Nate Holcomb; 8 by #12 Corey Strain and 11 by #32 Cameron Janda.
