Eagles Slay Yoe 69-41
Lexington scored 69 points Friday night as they near clinching a playoff spot in the post season. Lexington now sits solidly in second place. Lexington has a two-game lead over Lago Vista for the third and final spot, with three games left in the district season. Zach Lay and London Jacob led the balanced Eagle charge with 14 points each.
The pressure defense of Lexington caused many Cameron turnovers that led to easy buckets for Lexington. Lay, the quiet assassin, snuck out, away from the theft by Jason Washington or Donnie Havard, and was in position to get a pass and a seemingly easy shot.
Jacob got his points off offensive rebound put backs and on passes from Eriq Mitchell and Jason Washington. The Eagles played unselfish ball, as they passed effectively throughout the entire contest.
The huge margin of victory gave Coach Holcomb the opportunity to see some seldom-used players play a quarter or more, with most scoring.
The Eagles are now 7-4 in district play and travel to Rogers on Tuesday. A win in Rogers could possibly clinch post season participation. It would be Lexington’s first foray in post season basketball since 2010.
The JV Eagles also beat Cameron 28-22, with Corey Strain and Cameron Janda leading the way, with eight and eleven points, respectively.
