Eagles Sink Vikings 51-43

Move into 3rd place in District
by Mike Organ

Lexington got off to a good start with 14 points in the first quarter in their win over Lago Vista. The Eagles then held the lead, widening in the third quarter and then cruising to a finish in the fourth. The victory puts the Eagles in third place in the district race. The Eagles have to travel to undefeated Jarrell Tuesday. They get Thorndale at home in the second round.

The Eagle defense was the story once again. Lago Vista could not handle the quickness of the Eagle D. With Jason Washington, Donnie Havard, Zach Lay, and Josh Murray making swipes at the ball, and then, when a shot went up, LV could not jump with A.J. Flot and Eriq Mitchell.

A.J. Flot was the leading scorer for the second time this week. Flot received some excellent passes from Jason Washington and Eriq Mitchell, in addition to using his great leaping ability to grab rebounds. Flot is getting better each game as the Eagles are starting to learn one another on the court.

With everyone worried about Havard and JWash, Zach collects loose balls and heads to the basket with regularity, enough so that on Friday he had 11 points in the important game.

The Eagle JV beat Lago Vista 46-37 behind London Jacobs’ 14 points and Nate Holcomb’s 12.
