Eagle JV Swoops Past Lago Vista
The Vikings of Lago Vista came to town on Friday, January 27. The JV Boys tipped off in the old gym. Lexington’s #32 London Jacob tipped the ball to #12 Corey Strain, who took it down for 2 to start the scoring for Lexington.
Lago was unable to convert on their first two trips down the court, but Lexington went for 2 each time, once by #32 London Jacob and then again by # 22 Nate Holcomb, to jump out to an early 6-0 lead.
The scoring went back and forth to end the first period 14- 9 Lexington. The second period showed more defense by both teams, and the scoring was cut in half. Half time score was Lexington still leading 18-14.
The scoring in the third started with a nice 3 point shot from Lexington’s #11 Jamyon Scott. Both teams were moving the ball and scoring, but, with 16 seconds left in the period, Lago fouled Scott and sent a player to the free throw line for the first time in the game.
Jacob missed the first but made the second, to give Lexington 29 points. Lago added a 2-point shot with a buzzer beater to make the end of the third period score 29- 22 Lexington.
The fourth period had both teams scoring in double digits. Lexington was able to run fresh bodies into the game from off the bench. # 22 Nate Holcomb bombed 2 3-pointers in the fourth and Lexington closed out the game with a score of 46-37 Lexington.
