Lady Eagles Stop Florence

by Mike Organ

Lexington avenged an earlier loss to Florence with a 35-32 victory last week. Mackenzie Brown led the Lady Eagle charge with 10 points.

Brown got Lexington off to a good start as she drove to the basket for a couple of easy layups. Lexington built a 10-4 first quarter advantage on the good start.

Lexington continued on as Kristin Boettcher dropped in six points in the second quarter. Boettcher then hurt her knee in a scramble for a loose ball.

The Lady Eagles closed ranks and continued to battle as Florence began to close also. Lexington’s lead was down to eight points at the end of the third quarter.

The lead continued to dwindle in the fourth period until the score was 33-30. Brown hit a pair of free throws to give Lexington its final 35 points. Florence made a deuce and was trying for a threepointer when a Lexington player intercepted a pass, ending the threat and the game.
