8th Grade Lady Eagles Get a “W” Against Thorndale

The Lady Eagle 8A team took on the Lady Dogs of Thorndale Thursday night, January 19. The 8th grade game was a very fast paced, low scoring game, until the 4th period, when the winner was finally crowned.

In the first period, Lexington’s #11 Krista Lerche was able to make a nice shot from the 3 point line.

The quarter scores went 6-6, 9- 8, with a one point lead for Lexington in the second, and 11- 11 to end the third.

The tie remained into the fourth until Lexington’s Lerche was able to score a basket and #10 Amber Turnipseed and #15 Kennedee Heklotz were able to add a single free throw each, making Lexington’s new and final score 15.

Thorndale, in the 4th period, was not allowed to score a basket, but was sent to the free throw line for 7 shots. Four would tie the game and 5 or more would win the game.

Out of 7 free throws, the 8A Lady Dogs were able to make 1 point, giving Lexington the win 15-12.

Scoring for Lexington were: one each by #10 Amber Turnipseed, # 12 Melanie Scantlin, # 15 Kennedee Herklotz and # 45 Mariam Villalobos; four by #31 Whitney Willrich and five by #11 Krista Lerche.
