Lexington Police Report

Hello again from your Chief. Your Police Officers have been very busy with continuing training and with Holiday patrols. Several incidents and offenses have been reported and investigated and some investigations are still underway. Arrests have been made, including another felony arrest.

December 19, 2011

At 4:45 pm Capt. Yarbrough arrested a local Lexington man for Sexual Assault of a Child. The arrested person was transported to the Lee County Jail by Capt. Yarbrough and Chief Bowden and booked in on the charge which is a Felony of the 2nd Degree. This arrest is the result of one of the ongoing criminal investigations your Police Department is conducting in the Lexington area. This investigation was conducted and this arrest was made for the protection of our children, and to send a clear message that sexual predators will not be tolerated in our community.

December 20, 2011

The Police Department received a check in the amount of seven thousand dollars ($7,000.00) from the Stephen and Mary Birch Foundation. This check was given to City Secretary Pam Cox and she deposited it in the Police Department budget fund.

Officer Nurse issued a traffic citation at Hwy. 77 and South Rockdale.

December 22, 2011

11:23pm: Officer Gaskamp was dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Avenue G. It was gone on arrival.

December 23, 2011

Officer Nurse checked on several suspicious persons behind the CEFCO store. All ok.

1:36pm: Officer Nurse assisted DPS at the scene of a one car rollover accident on Hwy. 112.

Officer Nurse issued 2 traffic warnings and 1 citation on Hwy. 77.

December 24, 2011

Officer Raney placed orange safety cones around a pot hole at Avenue G and Dickson.

10:30am: Officer Raney assisted a motorist with directions.

2:11pm: Officer Raney issued a citation for excessive speed.

5:00pm: Officer Raney assisted another motorist with directions to Rockdale.

December 25, 12:01am *

* Several Lexington Officers were on patrol at midnight and observed a very fat and jolly man in a red suit, flying up Rockdale Street in a sleigh being pulled by reindeer at a high rate of speed. He was waved on in the interest of public safety. **********

At 3:00 am Officer Nurse checked a suspicious vehicle at CEFCO. It was registered to persons from Aransas Pass. No one was around the vehicle. He continued to check on rounds.

Corporal Wooldridge was dispatched to Hwy. 696 reference a report of a reckless driver. All was ok.

December 26, 2011

Officer Nurse issued a citation for speeding on Hwy. 77.

December 27, 2011

Officer Nurse took a report of a missing dog.

Officer Nurse checked the 100 block of Hale Street reference a report of loud music. The actor was gone on arrival.

At 10:30 pm Chief Bowden, Capt. Yarbrough, and Officer Nurse responded to a dog fight and bite complaint in the 500 block of Avenue D. Settled.

December 28, 2011

At 10:45 am Chief Bowden was dispatched to CEFCO reference a report of a theft of gasoline. Report on file.

Chief Bowden was flagged down by a visitor from San Antonio who stated she had lost her prescription sunglasses somewhere near the gas pumps at Petersons. After due investigation and observation, the Chief determined that she had positioned her glasses on top of her head and had forgotten they were there.

At 5:50 pm Chief Bowden and Officer Gaskamp were dispatched to the 700 block of No. Rockdale reference a report of two men fighting with knives. One person had fled the scene prior to Officers arriving. There was blood in the residence. A report was filed by Officer Gaskamp as the Chief patrolled the area in search of the injured person. Investigation continuing.

Officer Gaskamp received a call at the Police Station of Telephone Harassment. Resolved.

December 29, 2011

Capt. Yarbrough continued the investigation of a case of Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Larceny, as well as a case of Criminal Mischief.

Officer Gaskamp was on routine patrol and noticed a cable line down. Reveille Broadband was notified.

Officer Gaskamp issued a verbal warning on Hwy. 77.

Officer Gaskamp was dispatched to the 700 block of Hale Street reference juveniles throwing fireworks from a gray Dodge pick-up truck. Unable to locate.

At 11:47 pm Officer Gaskamp was dispatched to the 700 blk of 7th Street reference a report that livestock was possibly being attacked by dogs in the area. Upon arrival, no dogs were observed and all appeared to be ok. Continuing patrols to be made in the area.

December 30, 2011

Chief Bowden and Capt. Yarbrough were dispatched to Cherry Street reference 4 horses loose on the roadway. All horses were caught and led back to their corral.

December 31, 2011

Chief Bowden, Officer Gaskamp, and Officer Nurse patrolled the city for New Year’s Eve.

January 1, 2012

Chief Bowden assisted a motorist on Hwy. 77 north of Lexington.

Chief Bowden was at the Police Department beginning administrative duties for 2012.
