Rose Marie Stewart
Rose Marie Stewart was born on December 26, 1952 in Giddings, Texas to Elmo & Elyne ( Markert) Rackel. She was baptized on January 11, 1953 and confirmed on March 19, 1967 both at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas. Rose attended school in Giddings and graduated from McAllen High School after moving to Austin. She was employed with MetLife in Austin for several years. On April 24, 1982, she married Dr. Vincent “ Vince” Stewart at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Rose had owned and operated Rose’s Warda Store for eight years and was currently employed as a CNA with Maxim Home Healthcare. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, canning and pickling. She enjoyed her morning devotions with her husband and son and sharing her faith and knowledge of the Bible with others. She never knew a stranger and valued friendships deeply. Rose was a wonderful wife, mother and caregiver to others and valued every minute she had with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmo Rackel and two brothers-in-law, Greg Stewart and Jack Stewart.
Rose is survived by her husband, Dr. Vince Stewart of Giddings, four children, Heather & Troy Behrens of Giddings, Coby Zoch of College Station, Sean Stewart of Giddings and Conner & Kari Stewart of Giddings; five grandchildren, Taylor Behrens of Giddings, Dylan Zoch of Brenham, Skylar Zoch of Brenham, Kamrie Stewart of Giddings and Kenzie Stewart of Giddings; her mother, Elyne Rackel of Lincoln; three sisters, Barbara & Wilbert Birnbaum Jr. of Lincoln, Rebecca & Gaylon Michalk of Victoria and Lisa & Mike Schumann of Dime Box; brother, Andrew Rackel of Lincoln; brother- in- law, Dr. James “ Jimmy” Stewart of Winchester; three sisters-in-law, Margaret & Joe Papick of Cypress, Debbie & Ronnie Urban of Cypress and Carole Stewart of Pflugerville as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Anthony Birnbaum, Chris Birnbaum, Willie Birnbaum, Justin Michalk, Kyle Schumann and Ross Schumann. Honorary pallbearer was Charles Schumann.

Rose will be greatly missed but can now rest in peace with her Lord and Savior.
