After a rough outing last week against Lago Vista, the Middle School Lady Eagles were looking to turn things around when they traveled to take on the Lady Cougars of Jarrell. The 8B team tipped off first. The game was a steady paced back and forth event that turned into a nail biter. Going into the last seconds of the game, Lexington was trailing by a score of 10-8. In the waning seconds, #55 Sunny Adams took a pass and made a shot to even up the score at 10-10 to end the game.

Coaches from both teams converged on the scoring table and began a discussion on overtime rules. It was finally decided by Jarrell to have a Sudden Death.

The 8B girls tipped off. Jarrell won the tip off and took the ball straight down the court and made a shot. The ball went in the rim, rolled around and popped back out.

Lexington’s # 20 Shakora Latimar grabbed the rebound, drove the court and shot. The ball dropped straight in to the delight of the Lexington fans and allowed Lexington 8B to win 12-10 in Sudden Death.

Scoring for 8B were 2 each by #20 Shakora Latimar, #22 Kasey Faske, #50 Makayla Woodward and # 55 Sunny Adams. # 35 Meagan Gonzalez was high point scorer with 4.

The 7th grade Lady Eagles took to the court next encouraged by the 8B win. As soon as the referee tossed the ball, the Jarrell Cougars took the ball and never looked back.

Jarrell only had 5 players on the 7th grade team and they worked well with each other. Jarrell was able to dominate the game and won easily 44-7.

Scoring 2 each for the 7th grade Lady Eagles was # 0 Mariah Garza, #4 Jaclyn Alford and #5 Courtney Strain. #42 Magen Walch had 1.

The 8A team had similar results to the Lexington 7th grade team. Jarrell was able to out pace the Lady Eagles in a contest that ended with a Jarrell win 34-6.

Scoring for the 8A Lady Eagles was 1 for #12 Melanie Scantlin, 2 for #40 Kennedee Herklotz and 3 for #10 Amber Turnipseed.
