The Eagles basketball team showed some definite potential in their opening game with Somerville. If this crew can get their shooting eye, they could easily make the post season playoffs.
The Lady Eagles are now 0-2 for district play. The girls just need to be consistent in their performances. They played very well in the first half against powerful Thorndale and then had trouble with a Florence team that may not win another district game.
From what I read in the Austin American last week, several of their readers agree with me that Kevin Sumlin may not be a good choice to lead A&M into the SEC. They were quite a bit ruder than I was in their comments.
Question: Why is Wade Phillips’ defense the greatest thing to hit Houston, while his defense in Dallas could not stop many teams last season? Did his coaching improve that much in the trip down I-45 or did the Texans have some outstanding personnel in place?
Speaking of the Cowboys and consistency, (not in the same breath)…. If the ‘Boys could play at a high level for an entire game the entire season, they could be playoff contenders every year. The way they collapse in the second half, with double digit leads, reminds me of a team on the Brazos (four losses after leading by 10 or more points in the second half). Did Mike Sherman work as a consultant for the Cowboys this year?
