Giddings JV Basketball

The JV Boys Basketball team traveled to Taylor on Tuesday, December 13, to take on the Ducks. The boys started out sluggish as Taylor jumped to a 13-4 first quarter lead and were ahead at the half 24- 16.

“We looked out of sorts and weren’t playing the kind of defense we want to play,” noted Coach Essman. “Our execution, offensively, was not good at all and I take the responsibility for that.”

The Buffs came out in the second half and played more aggressive, defensively, and cut the the lead down by two within the first half of the third quarter 29-27.

“If we would have started the game with that intensity we would not have gotten down like we did,” stated the coach.

The Ducks extended the lead on turnovers by the Buffs.

“We were right there and we felt like we were going to take the lead and put some pressure on them,” finished Coach Essman.

The JV Boys fought hard and fell to the Ducks with a 46-41 final. Leading in scoring for the Buffs were DeShawn Toliver with 11, Cody Goodson, 7, and Teddy Wolridge 6.

The Buffs will take on Burton at Giddings with a 5:00 pm start Tuesday, January 3.
