Lorieta “Rita” Brown Spencer
Rita was born May 22, 1942, in Rosalie, Texas to Leeman “ Leon” & Georgia Gladys (Mathena) Brown. She attended schools in Odessa, Texas and married Billy Bob Spencer on January 4, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in Midland, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Giddings and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi. Professionally, she worked as an EKG/EEG Technician in the health care sector, but considered her primary job as a wife, mother and homemaker. She was served well by her strong faith and enjoyed reading, writing, sewing and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Billy Bob Spencer; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Garry Sitler of Pearland; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Spencer of Port Neches and Michael Spencer of Santa Fe, TX; mother, Gladys Moore of Lubbock; sister, Sue Malaise of Lubbock; brother and sister-inlaw, Jimmy and Mary Ann Brown of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Cameron and Collin Sitler and Laura and Matthew Spencer; nieces and nephews, Todd Malaise, Resa & Brian Rottino, Craig and Kathy Brown; aunts and uncles, Marjie Helen Kenworthy, Wylie & Wava Mathena and Harold Dean & Patricia Mathena, as well as numerous cousins and special friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Leon Brown and sister, Francis Brown.
.Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Giddings with Rev. Tim Edwards officiating. Graveside services were led by Harold Dean Mathena on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Bogata City Cemetery in Bogata, Texas.
