Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

Jimmy Terrell and Amanda Dowdy have played their last college games in their respective sports. Amanda plans on going out of the United States to play professionally as soon as college is over in December. Jimmy will begin work on his Master’s in Theology after his graduation on December 17.

Andrew Wolridge has been in his last regular season game. He will graduate in December also, but stands to have a bowl game experience before his college career is over.

Ronnie Willrich, Jr. has finished his eligibility at Southeastern Oklahoma. This is a pretty good record for a small town like Lexington.

Well, the Aggies followed the same script they used for four other games. They built a nice first half lead and then let the other team come back for the win. I will say this, if that was the last football game the two schools play against each other, it was a dandy. You could not have written a better script, unless you are an Aggie fan. It was good theater at worst, all the sub plots, coaches, names of players, and their legacies.

Will TCU and West Virginia be adequate replacements for A&M and Missouri? I think not. TCU hasn’t fared well when they played Big XII teams in match games. Things could take a down turn for the Horned Frogs. West Virginia could not win the Big East conference that did not have a dominant team.

The girls basketball team has not looked good since their opening game. They will be starting district play next Tuesday. It could be a long season unless they quickly improve.
