The McMurry War Hawks played #3 ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor tough for the first three quarters in the second round of Conference play last Saturday. Trailing 28-20, the War Hawks fumbled in the 4th that was corralled by MHB in the end zone. McMurry ended up losing the contest, 49-20.
Lexington ex, Jimmy Terrell, played the entire game at strong safety, officially recording one tackle and five assists. Free safety Will Morris was in on an astounding 21 tackles during the game.
The game concluded Terrell’s college football career, where, over the years, he had a total of 179 tackles, 16 for a loss; one QB sack; one fumble recovery; three forced fumbles; ten pass break- ups and three interceptions.
His time at McMurry saw the program progress from 0-10 to a 9-3 record this season. The 2011 team entered the NCAA DIII playoffs for the first time in school history.
