Eagles Face Arp
Lexington will face the Arp Tigers for the Region III championship Friday night at Waco ISD Stadium. Game time will be 7:30. The Tigers record is 10-2 for the 2011 season. The two losses came to Daingerfield 32-26 and Gladewater 21-13. The victories came over Paul Pewitt 48- 20, Center 34-30, Palestine Westwood 28-27 in non district action. Arp was undefeated in district play, with wins over Frankston 46-28, Joaquin 43-12, Union Grove 53-0, Winona 54-6, and West Rusk 44-24. Their playoff wins came over Rogers 52-20 and Corrigan- Camden 41-21.
Quarterback Kyle Copeland gets the offense started. Copeland ranks 11th in 2ADII state in passing with 68 completions in 120 attempts for 1,202 yards. (Kogan Garrett is second with 2,383 yards.) Kasey McClendon has 931 yards rushing and Mikeshell Potts is second on the team with 799 yards rushing. The Arp offense has been very potent this season as you can see by the scores.
Defensively, Dj Riley ( not a mistype) leads the Tiger defense in tackles with 127 stops and assists. Overall, the Tigers are allowing just over 20 points per game defensively.
This could be a battle royal. East Texas teams have speed, excellent skill people, and slightly over rated. If Arp can get you down, they roll, if not, you can roll. This will be a close game with Lexington prevailing 22-20.
