Wildfire Preparedness Meeting
A town hall meeting is scheduled for residents in Lexington interested in learning how to protect their homes from wildfire. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Woodson Community Center in Lexington. (This meeting was cancelled last Wednesday.)
Representatives from Texas Forest Service and the area volunteer fire departments will be on hand to answer questions.
Residents will be introduced to the Ready, Set, Go! personal wildfire action plan, which outlines ways to protect structures from wildfire by adopting firewise landscaping practices for 100 to 200 feet around your home.
More than 80 percent of wildfires in Texas occur within 2 miles of a community.
