Local Faire Gets National Exposure

The National Geographic Television station is launching an exciting new series next week called “The Knights of Mayhem.” The Knights of Mayhem are full contact competitive jousters that compete around the country. Their longest performance is Bastrop County’s own Sherwood Forest Faire, which will run for eight weekends this Spring from February 11th through April 1st, 2012. Significant portions of the five episode docudrama were filmed live at the 2011 Sherwood Forest Faire.

With an audience estimated to be near eight million viewers across the nation, the Sherwood Forest Faire and Knights of Mayhem will shine yet another light on the wonders of Bastrop County and Central Texas.

The Knights of Mayhem Captain, Charlie Andrews, is the reigning world champion full contact jouster. The Knights put on more than a joust show; each performance includes unrehearsed, competitive, fullcontact heavy armor jousting. Also amongst the Knights is 4 time world champion, Patrick Lambke. These two champions are each convinced that he is the best competitive jouster in the world so lance shards and emotions fly on and off the list!
