Nine Flags Christmas Festival

Three new events will grace this year’s Nine Flags Christmas Festival for visitors and the community to enjoy. “Adult’s Night Out” and the “ NASA Exhibit” will be held in November, along with “ A Down- Home Christmas” cooking show that will take place in early December. The Nine Flags Christmas Festival is a celebration of Texas history & culture and will be held Nov. 17 through Dec. 10. This year’s festival will pay special tribute to the American flag and honor our Nation’s independence with several events dedicated to our fight for freedom.

Come out and enjoy some holiday fun at Adult’s Night Out in downtown Festival Plaza. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the classic Christmas movie, “ National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” will begin at 7 p.m. Come hungry. Tickets are available at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. Everyone is encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, etc. to Adult’s Night Out. Special Nine Flags Christmas Festival blankets will be available too.

Celebrating the American flag this year, the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau will be host to the Johnson Space Center’s traveling exhibit November 21-December 9. Visitors can examine an in-flight spacesuit, shuttle models, info pop-ups, space helmet, and space gloves. Take pictures with the NASA photo opt cut-out, and be sure to watch the PBS Columbia video that will be complementing the exhibit.

Want to learn more about entertaining for the holidays? Then join us for “A Down-Home Christmas” on Thursday, December 1. Guests will learn how to effectively and beautifully execute cooking, baking, and entertaining for Christmas with help from Camilla Saulsbury, award-winning cook and bestselling author. Local caterer, Kerry Whitsett, will also be doing taste demonstrations of holiday favorites for the crowd to enjoy. The event will be held at the Nacogdoches County Annex. Doors open at 5 p.m. with the show starting at 6 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are available at the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. All pre-sale ticket purchasers will be entered into a raffle.

“We’ve added more events this year to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy,” said Lindsey Mathews, meeting and event coordinator of the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. “So come out and be a part of history by attending these new festivities!”
