Happy 100 Years!

Archie Sorenson celebrated his 100th birthday on October 5 in the company of family and friends. Over the last century, he has seen the world around him change tremendously, all while remaining constantly a caring husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, an outgoing friend, and an unshakeable Christian example to everyone along the way.

Archie has lived in Lee County since the 1930’s when he moved from Haskell, Texas. In March, 1939, he married Dottie Hart. They have two daughters, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. They still live on FM 112 where they moved in 1952.

He was a farmer (raising mostly watermelons, peanuts and corn), a carpenter for many years, and a rancher. He has always been an avid gardener and enjoyed working in the soil. Many remember the beautiful garden and orchard he had on FM 112.

Archie has been an active member of Shiloh Baptist church, serving as a deacon for many years.
