Janice Jackson Michalk

July 6, 1945 - November 4, 2011

Janice Mae Jackson Michalk was born on July 6, 1945 in Richland, Navarro County, Texas to Horace & Ruth ( Bosley) Jackson. She was baptized and attended church at the First Baptist Church in Richland and was married there on April 12, 1968 to E. DeeLynn Michalk. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Karla & Darla.

Janice worked in the printing department for Ennis Business Forms in Ennis before moving to San Antonio and eventually to Giddings in 1979.

She worked briefly for the John Alexander Company but devoted the rest of her time to her family as a loving and devoted homemaker.

Janice and DeeLynn enjoyed traveling and visited most of the United States and had traveled to Europe twice. She also enjoyed going to auctions, collecting antiques, going out to eat and attending the Giddings Rotary Club’s Country Music Monday monthly.

Janice enjoyed the country and nature and taking care of her animals. She always took an active role in the lives of her daughters and grandchildren and loved to babysit her grandchildren. She was a thoughtful and caring person who always put the well being of everyone else first.

Janice passed away peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2011 at the Cornerstone Hospital in Austin, having reached the age of 66 years, 3 months and 29 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Michalk; a sister, Shirley Gregory and a grandson, Ky Michalk.

Janice is survived by her husband of 43 years, E. DeeLynn Michalk of Giddings; her two daughters, Karla Michalk of Austin and Darla Michalk of Giddings; her seven grandchildren, Carlene Michalk of Giddings, Brandon Michalk of Giddings, Hunter Brown of Austin, Kayla Michalk of Giddings, Kyle Michalk of Giddings, Shania Suarez of Giddings and Skyla Suarez of Giddings; two sisters- in- law, LaVerne Dancak of Austin and Emogene & Marvin Knippa of Cypress as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.
